ST. LOUIS, April 20 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- Peabody announced today that the name of the company has been changed to Peabody Energy Corporation. The new name replaces both the communication name of Peabody Group and the legal entity P&L Coal Holdings Corporation.

The name reflects Peabody's position as the leading coal company and a premier energy supplier, with growing interests in related business including coal and emissions trading, third-party coal contract restructuring, coalbed methane and generation development.

Peabody Energy's website address will also change, effective April 23, to www.peabodyenergy.com . E-mail addresses will change effective May 1. At that time, e-mail messages should be addressed using the first initial followed by the last name ( example: jdoe@peabodyenergy.com ).

Peabody Energy is the world's largest private-sector coal company. Its coal products fuel more than 9 percent of all U.S. electricity generation and 2.5 percent of worldwide electricity generation.
