Douglas A. Wagner, Peabody Energy vice president for project management, today announced his retirement effective May 18.
Wagner has nearly 20 years of company service in engineering and operations management in the West and Southwest. The majority of his career was spent as an operations manager developing what is now Peabody's North Antelope/Rochelle Mine in the Powder River Basin, the largest and most productive mine in America.
He joined the company as an engineering manager in 1984 and was promoted to mine manager for the Rochelle Mine two years later, holding the position until 1994. At that time, he was promoted to general manager of the North Antelope/Rochelle Mine and served there through 1998. He also served as group executive overseeing four Peabody surface mines in Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico from 1998 to 2000, prior to being named to his current position.
"We value Doug's contribution to our Western operations and especially appreciate the role he played in the successful development of the North Antelope/Rochelle property," said Peabody Energy President and Chief Operating Officer Richard M. Whiting. "We certainly wish Doug the very best in his retirement."
