Peabody Energy Announces Management Changes in COALSALES

Peabody Energy today announced several management changes in its Peabody COALSALES group.

Barbara E. Busby has been named vice president - sales, with responsibility for steam coal sales and marketing in Eastern U.S. markets. She replaces John W. Hanekamp, who was recently named vice president - sales and trading for Peabody COALTRADE. Busby joined the company in 1979 as a project engineer in Illinois. She held various positions in the information services area and joined the sales group in 1996 as manager - customer service in Wyoming. Most recently, she was district vice president - sales, responsible for sales in Western U.S. markets.

Busby holds a bachelor of science in mining engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla and a master's degree in management information systems from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.

Michael R. Rayphole has been named vice president - sales and marketing, replacing Barbara Busby. Rayphole will be responsible for steam coal sales and marketing in the Western U.S. markets. Rayphole joined the company in 1994 as director of transportation and customer service for Peabody's western operations. He has more than 30 years of engineering, operations and transportation experience in the coal industry. He was most recently vice president - transportation and customer service for Peabody COALSALES.

Rayphole holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind., and is a Registered Professional Engineer.

D. Bryan Bashore has been named vice president - transportation and customer service, replacing Michael Rayphole. He will be responsible for the supervision and coordination of Western, Midwestern and Eastern coal shipments. Bashore has more than 30 years of experience in the rail and barge transportation industry, and most recently served as director - transportation and business development for Peabody COALSALES.

Bashore holds a bachelor of science in business administration from Murray State University in Kentucky.
