Peabody Energy Announces Organization Changes

Peabody Energy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Irl F. Engelhardt today announced organization changes within the functions that report to him.

Reporting to Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Trading Richard M. Whiting will be four regional sales executives including Senior Vice President of Powder River Sales James C. Campbell Jr., Senior Vice President of Appalachia Sales Michael V. Altrudo, Vice President of Midwest Sales Michael L. Siebers, and Vice President of Southwest Sales Colin M. Kelly, as well as Peabody COALTRADE President Stephen L. Miller. The Marketing Services, Transportation and Customer Service functions, as well as Peabody's joint venture interests, also report to Whiting.

Within Coal Operations, in addition to the current reporting structures, reporting to Group Executive of Appalachia Operations Jiri Nemec are Vice President of Safety David A. Beerbower and Vice President of Labor and Employee Relations Joseph C. Klingl. Reporting to Group Executive of Southwest Operations John L. Wasik is Vice President of Engineering and Environmental Services Gary W. Halstead. Reporting to Group Executive of Powder River Basin Operations Ian S. Craig is Director of Maintenance Services Michael J. Fidel. Reporting to Group Executive of Midwest Operations Kemal Williamson is Vice President of Conservancy Kenneth E. Allen. Allen will also assume responsibility for the Bluegrass operations in Western Kentucky.

Reporting to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Richard A. Navarre are Vice President of Materials Management Ronald E. Osborn and Vice President of Mining Decision Support Richard D. Robison. The Finance and Controller's Group, Treasury, Taxes, and Public and Investor Relations areas continue to report to Navarre.

Reporting to Executive Vice President of Corporate Development Roger B. Walcott Jr. are Vice President of Resource Management James C. Sevem, Vice President of Real Estate Development Terry L. Bethel, and Director of Land Financial Services Gary R. Hitpas. The Generation Development, Business Development, Land Management and Development, and Natural Gas Development functions also continue to report to Walcott.

Continuing to report to Executive Vice President of Legal and External Affairs Fredrick D. Palmer are the functions of Legal Services, Environment and Technology and Government Affairs.

Continuing to report to Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Administration Sharon D. Fiehler are the functions of Information Technology, Employee Relations and Executive Development, Compensation and Retirement Plans, Health and Welfare Plans and Benefits Cost Containment.
