William E. Broshears, vice president of mining services, today announced his retirement from Peabody. Broshears has nearly three decades of Peabody service in engineering, environmental, land and operations management positions, primarily in the Midwest and Appalachia.

Most recently, Broshears had executive responsibility for Peabody's mining services group that includes construction management, materials management, maintenance management, safety, labor relations and industrial engineering.

"Bill served in a variety of key leadership roles throughout his 27-year career with Peabody," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Irl F. Engelhardt. "His focus on improvement processes and operations efficiencies has helped to fuel Peabody's success. We wish him well in his retirement from Peabody."

Broshears joined Peabody in 1975 as a project and office engineer, served in Venezuela and originated the company's coalbed methane operations. He went on to serve as vice president of operations for Eastern Associated Coal Corp. and Peabody Coal Company before heading up the engineering and mining services functions.
