Rick A. Bowen Joins Peabody as Corporate Senior Vice President & President of Generation

Peabody Energy today announced that Rick A. Bowen has joined the company as Corporate Senior Vice President and President of Generation, reporting to Executive Vice President of Corporate Development Roger B. Walcott Jr.

Bowen assumes responsibility for Peabody's generation activities, including project and business development for planned electric generating projects in Illinois, Kentucky and New Mexico.

Bowen previously was Executive Vice President for Marketing and Trading at Dynegy Inc. and has more than 20 years of experience in generation development with Dynegy and its predecessor companies. His career history includes overseeing development of 5,000 megawatts of electric generation and managing the acquisition, development and power marketing activities associated with the company's North American power generation activities.

Reporting to Bowen are Vice President of Generation Colin M. Kelly, Vice President of Generation Dianna K. Tickner and Vice President of Generation Jacob A. Williams.

Bowen earned his Master of Business Administration in finance and his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Houston. He is a member of the board of directors for the Western Electric Coordinating Council (WECC) and the Consortium for Electric Reliability Technology Solutions (CERTS) Industry Advisory Board. He is President of the Bauer School of Business Alumni Association at the University of Houston.
