Peabody Energy has announced that Senior Counsel Lori J. Mason will provide legal counsel for matters relating to Peabody subsidiaries and affiliates in the Midwest. Mason reports to Jeffery L. Klinger, Vice President - Legal Services. She will continue to be based in the St. Louis headquarters office. Anne W. O'Donnell has assumed responsibility for legal matters in Appalachia, the position Mason previously held.
Mason has 19 years of corporate law experience. She was part of the legal staff of CONSOL Energy in Pittsburgh for 12 years before joining Peabody in 2002 as Senior Counsel for Appalachia operations. Mason holds a bachelor of science in business administration and a juris doctorate from West Virginia University in Morgantown.
Peabody Energy is the world's largest private-sector coal company, with 2003 sales of 203 million tons and $2.8 billion in revenues. Its coal products fuel approximately more than 10 percent of all U.S. electricity and nearly more than 2.5 percent of worldwide electricity.
