The board of directors of Peabody Energy today declared a regular quarterly dividend on its common stock of $0.06 per share. The dividend is payable on August 30, 2006, to holders of record on August 9, 2006.

Peabody Energy is the world's largest private-sector coal company, with 2005 sales of 240 million tons and $4.6 billion in revenues. Its coal products fuel approximately 10 percent of all U.S. and 3 percent of worldwide electricity.
