Curtis Tichenor Named Vice President of Marketing Strategies in Peabody Energy's Marketing Organization

Peabody Energy today announced that Curtis P. Tichenor has been named Vice President of Marketing Strategies with responsibility for analytic support for sales contracts, contract portfolio optimization and key account planning. Tichenor will report to Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Richard M. Whiting.

Tichenor has 25 years of experience with the company, serving in accounting positions for both surface and underground Midwest operations, financial planning for Eastern U.S. mines and contract administration positions for all regions of the company. Since April 1997, he has served as Director of Contract Administration. Tichenor has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.

Andy Roberts joins Peabody as Director of Market Analysis, reporting to Tichenor. Roberts has 29 years of coal industry experience in the operational and marketing sectors, including ten years with major energy research consulting companies. Marketing Specialist Wendy M. Mitts will report to Roberts, providing international market analysis. Philip Szczesniak joins Peabody as Market Analyst, also reporting to Roberts. Szczesniak will provide domestic market analysis. Szczesniak has more than ten years of experience as a mining industry analyst, most recently with Platts.

Reporting to Tichenor in new positions are Directors of Pricing Strategy James F. Niemczyk and Thomas Dilley. Dilley joins Peabody with 29 years of marketing and strategic planning experience with other coal producers. Niemczyk was formerly Peabody's Director of Engineering Financial Services. Manager of Contracting Strategy Dina M. Ostrom also reports to Tichenor. Tiffany Johnson, Pricing Coordinator, reports to Ostrom.
