Lance Throneberry Joins Peabody as Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer

Peabody Energy today announced that Lance Throneberry has been named Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer, reporting to Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Services Roger B. Walcott, Jr.

Throneberry will oversee Peabody's global supply chain management function with an emphasis on cost, quality and service. He will be responsible for the development of comprehensive procurement strategies and key supplier relationships in alignment with Peabody's capital and operating requirements. Reporting to him are Director of Materials Management Ronald E. Osborn, Director of Purchasing - Surface Operations Larry D. Steward and Director of Purchasing - Underground Operations Larry G. Yates.

Throneberry has 15 years of experience in procurement and finance, including 11 years with Newmont Mining Corporation, where he most recently served as Director of Supply Chain Management with responsibility for Bulk Commodities and Enablement. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Eastern Illinois University and is a certified public accountant.
