ST. LOUIS, March 19, 2013 – Members of the Missouri Botanical Garden will hop into spring this Saturday, March 23, during the Garden’s annual “Eggstravaganza” egg hunt. Children can hunt eggs, have a chance to win additional prizes, pose for photos with Bunny the Garden rabbit, pet live rabbits, and participate in other activities while enjoying the first signs of spring at the Garden. The annual event is highly anticipated by area families and frequently sells out.
“The Missouri Botanical Garden is a wonderful place for children to enjoy and learn about nature. Eggstravaganza is a fun, affordable way to celebrate spring and introduce families to the beauty of the garden,” said Donna McGinnis, the Garden’s Vice President of Institutional Advancement. “We are grateful that Peabody Energy is sponsoring Eggstravaganza and making this kick-off to spring possible for members of the Garden.”
Peabody Energy has called the Missouri Botanical Garden a community partner for years, with funding directed toward a number of different programs, projects and exhibits.
“This year, Peabody is happy to underwrite activities that enhance the Garden experience for its members, including Eggstravaganza and the Family Picnic in July,” said Sarah Kramer, Peabody Energy Director of Community Relations. “Peabody’s intent is to help the Garden convert visitors to members, driving sustaining membership so that even more in our region become actively invested in the Garden’s mission and growth.”
The Missouri Botanical Garden’s mission is “to discover and share knowledge about plants and their environment in order to preserve and enrich life.” Today, 154 years after opening, the Missouri Botanical Garden is a National Historic Landmark and a center for science, conservation, education and horticultural display.
