Peabody Energy's Twentymile Mine has earned the President’s Award for achieving the company’s safest U.S. performance for underground operations in 2013

ST. LOUIS, March 26 – Peabody Energy has announced that its Twentymile Mine in Colorado has earned the President’s Award for achieving the company’s safest U.S. performance for underground operations in 2013. Twentymile achieved a safety record of 1.26 for 2013 with over one million hours worked during the year and is being honored for a second consecutive year. Employees at Twentymile helped drive the best safety results in Peabody’s 131-year history.

Twentymile has received the President’s Award for Safety four times in the last ten years and holds the record for winning the award amongst Peabody’s underground mines.  Previous recognition came for the best underground safety performance in 2005, 2010 and 2012.
